From The Designer - Chapter One

Okay let's start a new blog segment called "From The Designer". This segment will allow myself, Tori-Anne Gill the designer and owner of Dark Thorn Clothing, to get into the nitty gritties of Dark Thorn Clothing. We can discuss anything you'd like to know and be completely transparent with the approach so you, the consumer, can feel even more connected and in touch with Dark Thorn. In Chapter One I'm going to discuss the collection structure behind Dark Thorn Clothing. Lets dive in. Each Dark Thorn Clothing collection is limited edition. On April 3rd I flew off to Melbourne for Dark Thorn Clothing's first international showcase at Face Fashion. Let's just say by the end of the media night at 9pm that day I was quite delirious... The event began with a media night on April 3rd held upstairs at the Malvern Town Hall. Paris Fashion Week Fundraiser at Port Broughton

Paris Fashion Week Fundraiser at Port Broughton

On March 24th Dark Thorn Clothing held a fundraiser at the Port Broughton Hall to help raise money to get Dark Thorn Clothing on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. The hall was set up like a Victorian garden with vines and roses wrapping around the entire venue. The greenery was lent to Tori-Anne by Colour Cosmetica Academy and among the greenery lay the timeline full of...

On the 5th of February I attended my first Labels Style Markets at Plant 4 Bowden. (Models: Diamond Management Group - Photography: Vueey Le) I held my first pop up shop at Adelaide Central Plaza,...

Help Dark Thorn Clothing Get to Paris

Help Dark Thorn Clothing Get to Paris

In August 2017 I received an email from Oxford Fashion Studio inviting me to participate in Milan Fashion Week, September 2017. Unfortunately I had to decline as I was already in the UK, I didn't have the money to spare and it was just simply too late notice. But I kindly asked if my invitation could be extended and they accepted, they continued by saying I could now choose which Fashion Week I would like to participate in so of course I chose Paris September 2018! Oxford Fashion Studio, founded by Victoria Beckham, analyse 40,000 designers each year and invite...

My Top Six Period Television Shows

My Top Six Period Television Shows

It's no secret that my biggest form of design inspiration comes from period television shows and movies, so I've decided to put together a list of my current top six favourites. These top six are period television shows that I continue to find myself going back to on a regular basis or just simply have playing in the background as I work and design. Poldark Devour deep into 18th century Cornwall when mining and fishing are losing profits but bills and necessities are constantly rising. Ross Poldark (played by Aiden Turner) returns home from fighting in the American Revolution to his life completely flipped upside down. His fiancé is now engaged to his cousin and his family mine...
