2018, what a year. We've taken some of the biggest leaps and jumps for Dark Thorn in 2018. Lets start with January.
January
Dark Thorn and it's designer Tori-Anne were featured on Channel 7 News Adelaide talking about her journey and the opportunity she received to showcase Dark Thorn during Paris Fashion Week.
February
Planning for the first fundraising event in Port Broughton began as well as a trip to Sydney to see my seamstress to finalise the Highland collection ready for sampling.
March
The fundraising event in Port Broughton took place working together with some other local businesses. Next Models Australia, Samantha Lawrence Makeup, Purity Day Spa, Jenna Mallyon Hair, Courtney Possingham Hair and HIP Photography.
April
We flew across to Melbourne for our first interstate event, Face Fashion. Here we met other small creatives and were able to showcase Dark Thorn to a new crowd.
May
Tori-Anne was lucky enough to have been invited to guest speak at The Edition held by Diamond Management and hosted by Kate Collins from Channel 9 News Adelaide.
Dark Thorn also started sponsoring Padma Singh who was in the running for Mrs World Australia and won! Now she is off to China to compete for Mrs World. Good luck!
We also did a photoshoot with an up and coming photographer, Katya Bojic.
June
The fundraiser at Carclew took place in June, we had so many sponsors for this event! Davroe Haircare, Colour Cosmetica, Mojo Beverages and Greg Cooley Wines. Carclew is an amazing building situated in North Adelaide, it almost looks like a castle on the hill.
July
July was filled with refining the Highland collection ready for the official photoshoot to take place. Putting the collection on mannequins, lining them up in runway order, re ordering them and making accessories to go with each style and design.
August
We head off to Melrose to photograph the Highland collection with Adelaide photographer and his wife, Glenn and Jayne Varona as well as model Vanessa Barry. We were lucky enough to photograph in Jacka's Brothers Brewery, Bluey Blundstones Blacksmith Shop and Applila Springs.
Tori-Anne was invited back to her Highschool, Saint Marks College, to teach a fashion workshop to students ranging from Year 8-12. Seeing students so enthusiastic about fashion from the same school Tori-Anne graduated from was extremely inspiring.
Tori-Anne was also then invited back to officially open the Saint Marks College SALA Exhibit.
September
Dark Thorn heads off to Sydney for our first tradeshow.
Dark Thorn starts the journey to Paris.
October
Finally the Paris Fashion Week event is here! With a four day showroom leading up to the runway held at the most beautiful venue, Le Grand Intercontinental.
Following the runway we had a photoshoot in Paris with Adelaide photographer Glenn and Jayne Varona.
On October 5th Dark Thorn and Tori-Anne made the front page of the Advertiser.
November
We head off to Melbourne for currently sealed photoshoot.
