Victorian Era Fashion 1877-1882

Victorian Era Fashion 1877-1882

Natural Form In 1877 the bustle had shrunken to the point where just pads were used or in most cases absolutely nothing at all. The bodices became long and even extended over the hips.  Princess dresses became extremely popular. This is a one piece dress that doesn't have a waist seam. This gives the illusion of being tall and slim which became a popular figure. Skirts clung to the legs with a string inside to tie the skirt close to the legs at the front but allow the back to be free falling. Over skirts became less popular and were...

VIP Night - Recap

VIP Night - Recap

On the 1st of December we hosted a VIP media night at The Curious Squire to showcase Dark Thorn Clothing's Rebirth and New Moon collections. Between 6:30pm and 8:30pm media, bloggers and public figures came in and out to celebrate and see the garments modelled on 3 models from Next Australia. Bubbles, canapés and chatter soon filled the venue. I am so filled with humbleness, happiness and determination after hearing all the amazing words and compliments. If you're going to wear some lace up heels like the ones pictured here it looks A+ with a maxi that comes just past your calf muscle! Add some statement earrings, a simple necklace (if your dress leaves your décolletage bare) and finish it off with a light metallic lip like Lime Crime's Blondie (pictured here) Want to wear pants with Mina? go...

Victorian Era Fashion 1869-1876

Victorian Era Fashion 1869-1876

Most of the dresses were trained but walking dresses are still floor length.  Knee length overskirts were still popular. If you look at the image below knee length overskirts look like an apron/tunic.  At the start of the 1870's bodices ended at he natural waist and were often belted around the waist or tied with a large...
